About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Social worker with a Masters Degree from The University of Georgia.  I completed my undergraduate degree at The University of Florida.

I have always enjoyed talking with people, learning about them, and exploring what makes them tick.  I learn so much from the clients I am fortunate enough to work with and am intrigued by each person's story.  I love exploring the strengths and uniqueness each person brings to my office as together we create the vision for what they want their life to look like.

In my own life I have found therapy to be helpful in overcoming personal challenges, dealing with life transitions, and helping me and my husband work through challenging times in our relationship.  I am a believer in the process and how helpful it can be.  Life is a journey filled with many twists and turns along the way.  Many of the notable events in our lives that bring joy also come with stress, anxiety, uncertainty and loss.  While the struggles experienced from some of life's major transitions can be painful, I believe they provide us with rich opportunities for personal growth.  Working with clients who are adjusting to a major life change and trying to find new meaning in their lives is one of the things I am most passionate about as a therapist.   My personal and professional experience have provided me with the knowledge and skills to help clients reestablish direction and find new meaning after a major life change.

I was a stay at home mom for many years, learning to navigate that world on its own was a challenge.  When I returned to work  I had to learn to keep balance in my life as a therapist, full time mom and wife, while also finding time to take care of myself.  This was no small task!  I have also been married for over 20 years so understand the trials and tribulations that come along with a long term relationship.  Along the way there have been many struggles, and while my journey has not always been easy it has been rich and fulfilling, there have been unending opportunities for personal growth, and many valuable lessons have been learned along the way.

As a therapist my style is warm, nurturing and supportive.  I strive to create a  place where clients feel safe and comfortable sharing their deepest thoughts, emotions and concerns.  I believe the relationship with your therapist is the most important part of the therapeutic process.  Through this unique relationship my goal is for my clients to gain a better understanding of themselves.  I work with clients to bring awareness to behaviors and thinking that may be keeping them stuck and hampering their relationship and quality of life.  I create hope and possibility for clients so that they believe in their ability to create the life they envision for themselves.

My approach supports the integration of mind, body and spirit.  I utilize mindfulness techniques in my work with clients to reduce anxiety, depression and reactive behaviors.  I encourage my clients to find balance in their lives and stress the importance of taking care of yourself both mentally and physically

In addition to helping people reestablish direction after a major life change I also have experience working with a wide range of issues and challenges including relationship and intimacy issues, depression, anxiety, family changes, family conflict, women's issues and emotional concerns.  I provide individual counseling to adults and adolescents, couples counseling and marriage counseling.  My experience includes worling with clients in many different stages of life from adolescence to late adulthood.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, working out, spending time at the lake, traveling, enjoying my two dogs and watching Falcons and Gator football.
